SERMONS

EIN ISH: NO ONE WAS THERE

"With many in our society being so routinely dehumanized, much of the spiritual work of our day is that of “rehumanizing.” And if, as our tradition tells us, we are to see the Divinity in each person—the notion that each of us are created Betzelem Elohim—then we must work to see the humanity in everyone, even those with whom we most vehemently disagree. When we desecrate their divinity, we desecrate our own, and we betray our humanity."

DAUGHTERS OF ZELOPHEHAD AND WOMEN OF THE WALL

"We know Moses to be a man with a fire for justice burning inside of him, and yet in this instance, he couldn’t see beyond the rigid laws setup around him. He couldn’t see what was just. And in turning to God’s wisdom in this moment, it’s as if he needed the help of another to find that voice of justice in himself."

MY BROTHER'S KEEPER

"How do we reconcile the fact that God gives us a ritual for abdicating responsibility just before commanding us that we must not remain indifferent when something happens in our midst?"
